Tyrone were defending champions when the two met in Croke Park in the All-Ireland quarter finals. Ronan McGarrity and David Brady dominated the midfield for Mayo that day and even a Stephen O’Neill goal into the Hill wasn’t enough to save the Ulstermen from being dumped out of the Championship.
Mayo would lose the 2004 All-Ireland final to the Kingdom.

Sadly, Cork proved too strong in that game, emerging 0-17 to 1-11 winners.
